Welcome to #RPGaDAY2025!
#RPGaDAY2025 starts on August 1st and many folks will be posting for it one day at a time through the month, while many others share responses in ways that take some preparation time.

What is RPGaDAY?
Now moving into 12th year, RPGaDAY was launched by David F. Chapman who may be known to you from his work for Cubicle 7 on the long-lived Doctor Who RPG with its innovative Vortex system, this year’s new adaptaton of the Laundry Files series to an RPG for C7, for his own intriguing game W.I.L.D., or his days in indie comics. Along the way, I joined in to help. In the ten years since, David and I have been pleased, surprised, and often humbled by how many people in how many places have taken part in this event year after year.
Each day this month, roleplaying enthusiasts, industrialists and gamers work from the prompt list below to take inspiration from each of the 31 prompts to post positively in affirmation of the joys and benefits of RPGs and the relationships and skills we have developed as a result.

Welcome to the Circle of Veritas, a Candela Obscura Real Play podcast by the Creative Play and Podcast Network. In the gaslit streets of Newfair, our brave circle of investigators faces ancient horrors, uncovering secrets while battling the supernatural. As they strive to protect the fragile veil of reality, listeners are taken on an atmospheric journey through the shadows that cloak their world.
Our circle navigates talents, relationships, and the eerie mysteries of a supernatural tome to collect gear and build trust. Can they maintain discretion and unity while facing the darkness that watches in waiting?
As new alliances form and old tensions fade, the investigators are summoned to the Librum Veritas to unravel secrets hidden in the heart of the Briar Green District. Our first full episode of The Circle of Veritas, our Candela Obscura campaign, is now live! In Session 1, our newly-formed Circle is summoned to the bookshop Librum Veritas and sent into their first case: mysterious deaths in a graveyard, sigils of ash and bleed etched into flesh, and rumors of war-dead walking again…
The circle must unravel the truth behind the haunted coin, lost soldiers, and a dark cult on the rise.

Case Title: The Gloom Beneath
Case Summary: In The Sidle, residents are reporting strange occurrences in their homes and shops. Shadows in newly lit alleys seem to shift unnaturally, items vanish without a trace, and at night, people have begun to disappear, leaving no sign of struggle. Though The Sidle has a reputation for safety due to its new electric streetlights, something sinister is lurking just beyond the glow. Candela Obscura dispatches the investigators to uncover the source of these disappearances before more citizens are lost.

Darrington Press's Candela Obscura Core Rulebook Roleplaying Game is a new investigative horror RPG in a gilded world simmering with occult magic, using the Illuminated Worlds System and featured in a new show on Critical Role! In this game of gothic horror, individuals of varied talents are brought together under the organization Candela Obscura, where they pursue strange occurrences and encounter dangerous magick, fighting back against a mysterious source of corruption and bleed. This core rulebook includes everything you need to play, including rules, character options, guidance on running your own campaigns, and expansive setting information both inside and beyond the turn of the century-inspired city of Newfaire.
Candela Obscura (bestowed the hashtag #CandelaObscura) is a new tabletop roleplaying game that places you in the roles of investigators working for an esoteric order. In this game of investigative horror, individuals of varied talents are brought together under the organization Candela Obscura. You’ll pursue strange occurrences and encounter dangerous magicks, fighting back against a mysterious source of corruption and bleed. Candela Obscura is the first to use the Illuminated Worlds System, a newly designed system that uses 6-sided dice and lends itself to narrative, arc-driven play.
