Case Title: The Gloom Beneath
Case Summary: In The Sidle, residents are reporting strange occurrences in their homes and shops. Shadows in newly lit alleys seem to shift unnaturally, items vanish without a trace, and at night, people have begun to disappear, leaving no sign of struggle. Though The Sidle has a reputation for safety due to its new electric streetlights, something sinister is lurking just beyond the glow. Candela Obscura dispatches the investigators to uncover the source of these disappearances before more citizens are lost.

Darrington Press's Candela Obscura Core Rulebook Roleplaying Game is a new investigative horror RPG in a gilded world simmering with occult magic, using the Illuminated Worlds System and featured in a new show on Critical Role! In this game of gothic horror, individuals of varied talents are brought together under the organization Candela Obscura, where they pursue strange occurrences and encounter dangerous magick, fighting back against a mysterious source of corruption and bleed. This core rulebook includes everything you need to play, including rules, character options, guidance on running your own campaigns, and expansive setting information both inside and beyond the turn of the century-inspired city of Newfaire.
Candela Obscura (bestowed the hashtag #CandelaObscura) is a new tabletop roleplaying game that places you in the roles of investigators working for an esoteric order. In this game of investigative horror, individuals of varied talents are brought together under the organization Candela Obscura. You’ll pursue strange occurrences and encounter dangerous magicks, fighting back against a mysterious source of corruption and bleed. Candela Obscura is the first to use the Illuminated Worlds System, a newly designed system that uses 6-sided dice and lends itself to narrative, arc-driven play.

Shadows in the Fog, our Urban Shadows 2e one shot: Part two and the conclusion will be posted next week!

There has always been a massive divide between the kind of role one takes on in a video game or table top roleplaying game (TTRPG), and the kind of role one takes on when imagining and playing make-believe with friends as children. While D&D and many other systems try and bridge this divide, the problem is simply that the perspective of TTRPGs has always been mechanic first and narrative second. We don't have to play this way. Come and check out Transcendence. The first of its kind, this narrative RPG system has developed a set of mechanics to support your imagination. It's an entirely new system and approach that will change more than just how you game with friends. Be warned though - this game isn't made for everyone. Origins
Before developing Crest Saga, we were just a small group of friends that rolled math rocks and hallucinated vividly together. We came together through a mixture of online and in-person interactions. Our group started off with four nerds that came together weekly to play various TTRPGs. We went through several systems and campaigns: heroic conquests, humiliating TPKs, and a smattering of laughter. Eventually, we decided to start our own TTRPG with all the things we loved. October 2022, we started developing Crest Saga.
Our group grew and so did our imaginations. We wanted a system that shook off the chains of classes and added mechanical freedom to character creation. We wanted simplified rolling but enough crunch to satiate the munchkins in us. We wanted room for Roleplaying as well as epic combats. We created a world of fantasy with a system to support any world we could imagine. We took all the things we loved and shaped them into Crest Saga.
We have put our heart and soul into this game. We hope that our system can help support your own epic Sagas. Roleplaying games are special since to be in a world of make-believe, you invest a part of yourself. You explore different sides of the human experience with friends, or strangers; online or in-person. We wanted to make a system to light the imagination but most importantly, bring friends together.
